Blade fencing, screens & gates

50 mm and 65 mm aluminium blades – 1.5 m and 1.8 m high – plus a 45° angled no-gap designer panel. Fences, feature screens and matching gates, supplied as kits or installed across Sydney.

Blade fencing, screens & gates

Blade fencing is the step up from slat fencing. Each element is a deep rectangular aluminium blade fixed so its narrow edge faces the street. Viewed square-on you see through the gaps; step to the side and the depth of the blades closes the view. We supply 50 mm and 65 mm blade panels in 1.5 m and 1.8 m heights (1.2 m is also available and is suitable for pool fencing), powder-coated including Satin Black, with matching gates. A 45° angled blade panel is the upgraded no-gap design.

Horizontal or vertical blades?

Horizontal blades stretch a facade visually, suit long front boundaries and low, wide homes, and are the more common choice. Vertical blades make a fence look taller, hide posts on short runs, cannot be climbed like a ladder and shed dust – the better choice for side screens, narrow frontages and anywhere children might climb.

Either way the blades sit in a concealed top and bottom (or side) rail so there are no visible screws on the street face.

Blade screens

Beyond the boundary fence, blade panels make excellent feature screens: hiding pool pumps, bins and air-conditioning units; screening a deck or balcony from the neighbour; framing an entry path; or breaking up a long Colorbond fence as an infill panel. Screens are built on a welded aluminium frame and can be free-standing on flanged posts, wall-mounted or set into a planter.

Gates

Blade gates are fabricated as a welded frame with blades set at the same gap as the fence, so the line runs straight through. Pedestrian gates take a magnetic latch or keyed lock; double gates get a drop bolt and optional swing-arm motors; sliding gates use a 65 × 65 mm frame on a track or cantilever. See automation options.

Installation

  • Posts at 2.4 m centres or less, concreted 600 mm deep, or flanged posts bolted to masonry or a retaining wall.
  • Rails fixed level, blades fitted at the set gap with concealed clips or screws, closing rail fitted.
  • Slopes are stepped so blades stay horizontal or vertical; panels cut to width on site.
  • One to two days for a typical front fence and gate.

Common questions

What is blade fencing?
Blade fencing uses deep, thin aluminium blades fixed horizontally or vertically with a set gap. We stock 50 mm and 65 mm blade panels (1.5 m and 1.8 m high, also 1.2 m for pool-height work) and a 45° angled blade panel with overlapping slats and no visible gap. Because the blades are deep, the fence looks solid from an angle but lets light and air through when viewed straight on.
Blade fencing vs slat fencing?
Slat fencing uses 65 × 16 mm slats laid flat, so the face of the slat is the visible surface. Blade fencing turns a deeper section so its narrow edge faces you and the depth creates the screening. Blades give more privacy at the same gap, a stronger shadow line and a more architectural look; slats are lighter and cheaper.
How much privacy does it give?
A 100 mm-deep blade at a 20 mm gap is effectively opaque from any angle other than straight on, and even head-on you see only a sliver. It is the most private open fence we build – ideal where a solid wall is not allowed or would block airflow.
Which colours and finishes?
Any powder-coat colour, including Colorbond-matched shades, matte black, white and woodgrain timber-look finishes. Frames and blades can be different colours.
Can blades be used for gates and screens?
Yes. Pedestrian, double and sliding gates are built on the same blade and gap. Blade screens are popular around pool equipment, bins, air-conditioners and as balcony or deck privacy screens fixed to a steel or aluminium frame.
Supply only?
Yes – blades, rails, posts and fixings supplied as a kit Australia-wide, or fully installed across Sydney after a free site measure.
