Sydney glass fencing

Design your glass fence and gate in 3D

Plan your glass pool fence, frameless glass fencing, glass gates or glass balustrade with our interactive design tool. Configure your layout, explore styles, adjust measurements and generate a detailed project specification before requesting a free quote from Fencing.Sydney.

How to use the glass fence calculator

Choose the project, then the glass system, then each straight run of fence. Add gates where people need to walk through. The plan and the 3D view use the same measurements. When you are ready, send the design with your suburb and phone number. You do not need an account.

How to measure a glass fence layout

Walk the line you want the glass to follow. Write down every straight piece separately. A corner is a new run with a turn, not one long total. If the house, a wall or an existing fence closes one side, do not draw glass there — note it as the thing that run meets. Photograph the pool edge, the deck, steps and anything within about a metre of the line.

Planning gate locations and access

Put the gate on the run people actually use. For a pool, the usual intent is a gate that opens away from the water and closes itself. This designer records hinge side and swing so we can discuss them. It does not prove the latch height, the closer or the surrounding space.

Frameless versus semi-frameless glass fencing

Frameless glass keeps the view open: panels are clamped by spigots or set in a channel. Semi-frameless glass uses posts between panels, which some longer runs and some balustrades need. Changing the system in the designer changes the fixing choices. We still confirm the combination before anything is ordered.

Glass fencing for swimming pools

A glass pool fence is a safety barrier, not only a screen. Height is measured from the finished ground outside the fence. Gates, gaps and anything a child could climb all matter. Read the NSW pool fencing guide and our pool fencing page. The figures in that guide are not re-stated here as a pass mark for your drawing.

Glass balustrades for balconies, decks and stairs

A balcony or stair balustrade is not designed with the same questions as a pool fence. Say whether the edge is timber, concrete or steel, and whether you want a handrail. Stair flights should be separate runs. Fixing into the structure is checked on site.

Mounting options and the surface

Spigots, core drilling, face fixing, posts, base channels and standoffs all need a surface that can hold them. Pavers, fresh concrete, timber decks and retaining walls are not interchangeable. If you are unsure, leave the surface as unknown and ask for a measure.

Why the site measure still matters

Online lengths are a start. Out of square corners, falls in the paving, and a gate that looks clear on a plan but clashes with a wall only show up on site. The specification labels approximate measurements and lists anything the calculator could not resolve.

What happens after you enquire

Your design is emailed to Fencing Sydney with your contact details. We review the runs, gates and notes, then contact you about what is missing and whether a free site measure is the next step. Sending the form does not book the work and does not produce a price in this tool.

Frequently asked questions

What does the glass fence calculator do?

It lets you plan a glass pool fence, glass gate or glass balustrade: several fence runs, corners, gates, glass type and fixing. It produces a preliminary specification you can send to Fencing Sydney. It does not show a price and it does not certify the design.

Which glass systems can I design?

Frameless glass pool fencing, semi-frameless glass pool fencing, glass pool gates, balcony and deck balustrades, stair balustrades, face-fixed glass and courtyard glass. Options change with the system. Not every tint, thickness or panel width is available for every job.

How do I measure a glass fence?

Measure each straight run on its own, in millimetres if you can. Note corners, where a gate sits, which way it should open, and the finished ground on both sides. Mark anything you are unsure about as approximate.

What is the difference between frameless and semi-frameless glass fencing?

Frameless panels are held by spigots or a channel, with no post between the panels. Semi-frameless panels sit between posts. Fencing Sydney confirms which one suits the surface, the span and, for a pool, the barrier.

Does the calculator mean my pool fence is compliant?

No. Passing the calculator checks is not a compliance result. NSW pool barriers are assessed on the whole enclosure, including gates, gaps, levels and nearby objects, by a council or registered certifier.
